i know, it's kind of sad that i'm so excited about this.
we are in the midst of working on our kitchen renovations (yay!) and this weekend while we were picking up some paint at home depot for our cupboards, we happened upon a brand spankin' new ge dishwasher that was $350.
but wait, there's more!
it was marked down to... (get this).... $70!!!
now, we weren't really shopping for a new dishwasher because there wasn't anything completely wrong with the old one. it was just 30 years old, didn't really clean the dishes, and made such a loud noise that if we ran it while we were in the kitchen we had to move to the dining room to talk. but we had NO dishwasher while we were living in the barn, so i looked at this as a vast improvement. we had in the back of our minds that if we ever saw a good bargain we would jump on it, and this one we just couldn't pass up.
my parents were in town to help out, which was lucky because my dad is an electrician and he walked billy through installing our new dish clean machine! (oh yeah!)
billy is not scared of that many things. but he is petrified of electricity. there was one point while he was trying to unhook the old dishwasher that someone in the kitchen touched a plastic bag and billy pretty much went through the roof. i should also mention that he had taken the fuse out of the electrical panel so there was no electricity in the kitchen when this happened. but he was still quite certain he was going to get fried. it was highly entertaining.
it took a while to get the old dishwasher out and the new dishwasher in. we also discovered a mouse nest and a lot of 60 year old questionable stains. wheeee! but now we have a really awesome new dishwasher that cleans dishes really really well and is really really quiet and energy efficient! all for just $70!
what's that you say?
how did you get a brand new dishwasher for $70?
there must be a catch??
there is.
it has a huuuugeeee dent in the front of it.
whoops.
beauty is only skin deep people! i swear the insides of this baby are perrfeectooo.
also, i happened to have the perfect solution for this boo boo.
that's what i like to call "making it work".

AWESOME. I'd do EXACTLY the same thing with the barn magnet that you did. In fact, we have. There's a weird spot on the outside of our refrigerator and we have it strategically covered with N's magnets, too. ;)
great solution to the dent - you're too funny!
You are amazing. Yay for a new dishwasher!!!
My mom is a little terrified of electricity, too, and one time when I was a kid she was acting all worried when my dad was working on something, so he faked getting shocked. She almost beat the crap out of him. We laugh about it to this day!
